Applications for review – Loopthing

57 applications have been submitted to Outvesting and will, over the course of the next two weeks, be reviewed by our fund donors. During that time we’ll also be publishing a random selection here, starting today with Loopthing.

History of your startup

We first started development on the Loopthing project back in early 2008. After we got a clear picture of what we wanted to achieve it took nearly 12 months of planning, design and development to get to soft launch in April 2009.

At that stage we had all the basic features in place to begin population of the loopthing business network and start developing a foundation for the website. After the soft launch of the service in beta, we continued to tweak and develop new aspects of the service to improve our offering to the wider business community.

On the 28th October 2009 we officially launched the network and released our first business support module – OpenScore. see http://www.youtube.com/user/loopthing

We now feel that the project is beginning to offer the wider business community significant support and features that will enable them to engage online in a much more productive fashion.

Why do you deserve to win?

We believe that the Loopthing project will utilise the money raised by the outvesting platform to its full potential by improving the immediate growth prospects of this young Irish start-up.

The company is just getting on its feet, and any additional financial support at this early level would contribute greatly to our future growth, and provide a significant boost to our current development.

Our next primary stage of development involves opening up the Loopthing network to external 3rd party developers to provide applications for business use. The money spent on this development would therefore provide additional Irish entrepreneurs with the opportunity to create applications to target international markets on the back of the Loopthing network.

In addition to this, we are a young but mature team who would greatly appreciate and acknowledge support of this level, and treat the funds with the utmost respect.

What you’ll do with the money?

As discussed above the money will be used to facilitate the next stages of development which involves opening up the loopthing network to 3rd party application developers.

We believe this will not only improve the quality of applications offered though the network, but also provide Irish entrepreneurs with a platform on which they can develop and sell products into the international business services market.

We already have developers interested in providing applications for the network, and the sooner we are capable of supporting them the faster the Loopthing network will grow and the opportunities created within it.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Online campaign seeking start-ups for €5,000 donation

NEWCASTLEWEST, CO. LIMERICK – OCT 30, 2009: Outvesting.org, the online campaign which has raised a €5,000 fund through donations on Twitter is now seeking applications from Irish entrepreneurs. The entire fund will be gifted, no strings attached, to one lucky start-up after a review and voting process.

“We simply asked people to pledge €50 each in the hope that one hundred others would do likewise.  Those pledges came rolling in and in the space of four weeks were converted to donations amounting to the target €5,000″, said John Keyes, one of those behind the project.

Applications can be submitted to the Outvesting.org website until November 21st and the winner will be announced on December 7th. Those who donated to the fund will review applications and vote on the start-up with best potential.

“There’s obviously a groundswell of opinion that entrepreneurs should do more to help ourselves at this time of banking and economic crises. We just tapped into the generosity and goodwill that exists within the start-up community in Ireland”, said James Corbett, the other half of the Outvesting team.

About Outvesting:

Outvesting.org was founded in September 2009 by James Corbett and John Keyes as an online campaign to raise funding for entrepreneurs and start-up companies. The idea was generated as one response to the general dissatisfaction amongst entrepreneurs with the lack of appropriate angel funding and state supports in Ireland.
